Strengthened by community investment through avenues such as Measure CC, this District is expanding the footprint of higher education into more cities with projects like the upcoming Corona Education Center and the Inland Empire Technical Trade Center in Jurupa Valley.

63rd Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series Challenges Traditional Masculinity


Riverside Community College District’s 63rd Distinguished Faculty Lecture series, delivered by Eddie Perez, Ed.D. explored “From Strain to Strength: Rethinking Masculinity and Emotional Expression,” focusing on how rigid gender norms contribute to social issues including mental health crises, substance abuse, violence, and homelessness. Perez, a sociology professor at Riverside City College since 2006, combined personal stories and scholarly research to challenge traditional notions of masculinity and urge greater emotional intelligence among men.

RCCD Chancellor Wolde-Ab Isaac Named Educator of the Year

Wolde‑Ab Isaac, Ph.D., chancellor of the Riverside Community College District, has long been a champion for educational equity and student success. He was honored as Educator of the Year by the Inland Empire Economic Partnership during the organization’s annual dinner on Jan. 9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Ontario Airport. The award recognizes Isaac’s exceptional contributions to education, his forward‑thinking leadership, and his commitment to expanding opportunities for students in the Inland Empire.

Center for Social Justice Earns Community Recognition at Mayor’s Ball

 
The Riverside Community College District’s Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties earned second place in the Art Facility category at the 2025 Mayor’s Ball for the Arts. The celebration honored standout contributors to Riverside’s creative landscape, with awardees nominated and voted for by the community. The Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties was recognized alongside other prominent institutions, placing just behind the Riverside Art Museum & Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture.

Sharon Alexander

Sharon Alexander Honored as RCCD Alumnus of the Year

 
Sharon Alexander, a distinguished Riverside City College graduate, has been named the 2024 Riverside Community College District Alumnus of the Year for her contributions to nursing education and community health. A 1981 graduate of RCC’s Associate Degree in Nursing program, Alexander earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She began her career in critical care and later served as Director of Education at Parkview Community Hospital.
