Sharon Alexander, a distinguished Riverside City College graduate, was named the 2024 Riverside Community College District Alumnus of the Year for her contributions to nursing education and community health. A 1981 graduate of RCC’s Associate Degree in Nursing program, Alexander earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She began her career in critical care and later served as Director of Education at Parkview Community Hospital. 

As a full-time faculty member at RCC, Alexander mentored future nurses and serves as a clinical expert in medical-surgical nursing. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom, with a decade of transformative work at the Riverside Free Clinic, where she provides care for underserved communities and guides RCC nursing students in clinical practice. Alexander’s commitment to mentoring alumni and fostering collaboration between RCCD colleges further underscores her lasting impact on the district.
