Applied Digital Media Printing Program Celebrates 100 Year Anniversary

Riverside City College celebrated the Applied Digital Media Printing program's centennial anniversary. Part of the festivities included showcasing the program's renovated facilities and donation of a Heidelberg SpeedMaster SX 52 by Jan Steiner. Her multi-million dollar donation was a way to honor her family’s impact on the printing industry.

Chamber Singers Take Their Voices Internationally

The Riverside City College Chamber Singers were invited to participate in the 7th Annual Jeju International Choir Festival and Symposium in South Korea along with choirs from the Philippines, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Korea. The Chamber Singers were also asked to be part of the choral conductor's competition as the model choir and the choir's director, John Byun, was asked to serve as a clinician for the festival, presenting a lecture on singing through movement.

Claire Oliveros, Ph.D., Selected President of Riverside City College

Claire Oliveros, Ph.D., was selected as Riverside City College’s 13th president. Oliveros, previously vice president of Institutional Equity & Research and Planning at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, holds a bachelor of arts in Speech Communication from Western Oregon University; master of science in Educational Policy, Foundations and Administrative Studies from Portland State University; and a doctorate in Education from Oregon State University.

Riverside City College Secures Funding for Student Housing

Riverside City College, in partnership with the University of California, Riverside, secured funding for on-campus affordable, low-cost housing options for students enrolled in public postsecondary education. The state of California is investing $1.5 billion for student housing.

Alumna Selected for US Department of State Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship

Riverside City College’s Jolene Farley was one of 15 individuals nationwide selected by the US Department of State for a Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship.

College Opens Greenhouse, Outdoor Plant Lab & Receives Beautification Award

Riverside City College celebrated the opening of a new greenhouse and its Outdoor Plant Lab, a 1,000-square-foot facility that serves as a teaching laboratory for the life sciences and botany programs.

Cybersecurity Program Validated by NSA; Earns Certification as a Center of Academic Excellence

Riverside City College has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. Additionally, the institution being designated as a CAE, the cybersecurity certificate program entitled Information Security and Cyber Defense has been validated by the National Security Agency.

Gateway College and Career Academy Wins National Award

Gateway College and Career Academy won the Achieving the Dream’s Program Excellence Award for its success in assisting students reach their academic goals. Each year, Achieving the Dream honors colleges whose commitment to equitable outcomes has driven substantive improvements for students and their communities.

Oldest College Facility Receives a Facelift

Wheelock Stadium, the oldest structures whose core was built in 1921 as part of an original high school campus, received a facelift with replacement of football turf and running track, including the long and triple jump lanes and pole vault area, and irrigation system.

Students Selected for Participation at the American College Dance Association Conference

A Riverside City College dance assemble was selected to perform a faculty member’s work at the American College Dance Association Conference. Professor Rosa Rodriguez Frazier’s “Femmeboi” was performed by Antonio Aguirre, Anthony Reynoso, Daniell Calderon, Kat Jones, Jaime Carriedo, and Jonathan Ramirez.
