In December of 2022, the Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees approved an energy services agreement with TotalEnergies Distributed Generation USA, LLC for energy conservation services. The nearly $35 million agreement will allow the District to harness sun energy to power the campuses, District and Ben Clark Education Center facilities. The anticipated cost for electrical energy will be less than the anticipated marginal cost that would have been consumed in the absence of the project. TotalEnergies Distributed Generation USA, LLC is a multinational integrated energy/petroleum firm that was founded in 1924 in France and has over 100,000 employees. The company does business in over 130 countries, and in 2021, installed 10 GW of solar. The District will issue Certificates of Participation with repayment coming from the District’s general fund.
