Launched in November, 2022, the Norco College Volunteer Corps’ goal is to improve the College’s image and presence in its service area through volunteerism. Norco College faculty, students, managers, and classified professionals come together to assist a senior citizen in need of home improvements.

During the 2022-23 academic year, the Volunteer Corps completed seven events with 71 volunteers. In total, 420 community service hours were donated by the College’s staff and students.

Testimonials

Antonio Gill, Airforce Master Sergeant (Retired)

“I want to express my profound gratitude for the kindness and generosity of your remarkable team of students, faculty, administrators, and classified professionals. It was a pleasure to meet each team member, learn about their interests, and share lunch at the end of the day. Some residents may be elderly, disabled or have physical limitations in performing the upkeep of their homes. Everyone's personal situation is different and unique. However, regardless of what is needed, your team approaches each task with care, respect and a positive attitude. The results are always amazing! What a blessing to have the Norco College Volunteer Corps assisting our community. Thanks to your team's rigorous efforts my garden and entire yard have been restored to their original beauty. Now my gardens are manageable, and I can enjoy working again a little each day to continue your efforts. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for your ongoing commitment and compassion.”

Patricia Gill, NC Stem Services Developer

“Working with the NC Volunteer Corps brings us together as a community. We get to spread joy, help others, and be changemakers representing our College. As a classified professional, my role is to coordinate and provide our College Corps program with service opportunities. Growing up in service is part of my life. My father served our country in the US Air Force for 23 years. He was the person his peers came to for assistance. Mom was the person who was ready to provide a meal for anyone in need. Helping others gives me joy and opens the door for new friendships and learning opportunities. The most important takeaway was the comradery amongst our volunteers with those we served and the appreciation of those we helped with our volunteers' assistance.”
