Joumana McGowan, Ed.D., was hired as the vice president of Academic Affairs at Moreno Valley College. The Office of Academic Affairs supports student learning, faculty teaching, and oversight of courses, programs and areas of emphasis. The office also addresses student concerns and assists students by providing information regarding academic procedures.
McGowan comes to Moreno Valley College with over twenty-five years of experience in higher education. Prior to accepting the vice president’s job at Moreno Valley College, McGowan spent three years at Citrus College as vice president of Academic Affairs. She spent over ten at Mt. San Antonio College as associate vice president of Instructional Services and dean of Business.
She was also previously the dean of Instruction at Coastline College, overseeing the business, computer information systems, and career and technical education departments. Her teaching experience includes being a full-time tenured faculty member, business management department chair, and faculty senate president at Fullerton College.
McGowan holds an associate degree from Mt. San Antonio College; a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; and a doctorate degree and graduate certificate in Community College Leadership from the University of Southern California. In 2018, she completed the Harvard University Institute for Management and Leadership in Education program.
