RCCD Annual Report

The Riverside Community College District Procurement Technical Assistance Center has created the Inland Empire Tech Bridge, a collaborative effort with NavalX; University of California, Riverside; California State University, San Bernardino; and regional businesses. Through Tech Bridge, the District has increased federal regional innovation/institute designations; increased small business innovation research awards for regional companies; developed avenues for innovative technology developed by the military to be shared with the civilian/private sector for commercialization; and helped in the creation of new companies in the region.

In the fall of 2022 during the inaugural cohort, the California State University, San Bernardino School of Entrepreneurship graduate Technology Commercialization class, used a Warfare Centers’ laser sensor patent to create four viable business cases around the patent:

  • Hand-held COVID breathalyzer
  • Hand-held, at-home test for stress hormone level detection
  • Forensic drone for fire insurance investigators
  • Instant gluten detector

The District is working to secure appropriated $5 million for the Inland Empire Tech Bridge this year with another $5 million earmarked for 2023.
